Sattahip authorities nabbed a purported middle-tier drug dealer as they continue to search for a major source of methamphetamines in the district.
Jira Karnwad, 38, was arrested Dec. 23 in a sting operation at the Kan Kaeha public-housing complex on Soi Bonkai. Officers recovered 0.6 grams of crystal methamphetamine they said he threw away while fleeing the scene.
District Chief Ponphan Yommart said the capture stemmed from the earlier arrest of Jutamart Chorjan, 29, a low-level dealer who ratted out Jira as the supplier of the 60 ya ba pills taken from her Dec. 21.
Police convinced Jutamart to set up Jira by offering to buy the crystal meth at the government housing development. When Jira arrived, police sprung and easily captured him as he tried to escape.
Police said Jira is now cooperating and giving information on his higher-level supplier.
