The Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation offered Pattaya residents a chance to make merit for New Year’s blessings by offering alms to 49 monks.
Vice-President Vichian Pongthawornpinyo presided over the Jan. 24 ceremony at the site of Pattaya’s old pier, welcoming the monks from Chaiyamongkol Phra Aaramluang Temple and Abbot Pisan Jariyaphiwat, dean of monks for the Naklua Sub-district.
Monks from Chaiyamongkol Phra Aaramluang Temple are seated for lunch at South Pattaya’s old pier, for a merit making ceremony organized by the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation.
Sawang Boriboon members laid alms side by side for believers to offer rice and food to the monks efficiently, since there was limited space and speed was required for the ceremony. After the monks had offered their blessings, guests presented lunch to the monks.
Vichian said the ceremony is held annually to make merit for each new year.
