Cars still are bogged down around construction of the Sukhumvit-Central roads bypass tunnel, but at least pedestrians will be able get through easily again after the Department of Rural Roads repaired sidewalks on both sides of the work zone.
Contractors from Bang Saen Mahanakhon on Oct. 15 led workers to begin repairs to bricks and drain covers caused by demolition of the street in order to relocate electrical cables and water pipes.
He noted persistent flooding also damaged the footpaths.
Work is expected to be complete on both sides of the highway by mid-November.
