Residents of Soi Kophai woke up to find many of their homes flooded after heavy rain overnight June 15.
The area between sois Kophai 8 and 6/12 were the worst hit, especially a one-rai property owned by 78-year-old Yupin Saithong.
Around the area, there are five houses and an apartment building with 25 residents.
Yupin’s son, Niran Saithong, 38, said he had not seen flooding this bad in a long time, usually lasting only about 30 minutes.
He speculated that the growing community, which has been building up land to lay foundations for new buildings, has left his mother’s tract lower than the surrounding properties.
Garbage filled rainwater flooded the area and due to construction, had no way out.
He said he pumped out storm runoff for about two hours, but the problem remains and now residents want help from city hall.
Kophai Community President Wirat Jojinda inspected the area and coordinated with the city to supply emergency relief.
