Four fishing boats sank when a thunderstorm blew through Sattahip Bay.
High pressure over China pushed a cold front through Thailand Jan. 28, whipping up seas and creating 2-meter swells Jan. 28. Combined with heavy rain, four boats taking shelter in Dongtan Bay were swamped and sunk.
The storm also sank two Vietnamese fishing boats that had been seized for illegal fishing by the Royal Thai Navy.
Sattahip Mayor Phawat Lertmukda urged sailors to stay off the high seas and moor their boats in sheltered area to prevent more damage.
The January 28 storm was too much for 4 fishing vessels in Sattahip Bay.
