It was an unlucky return home for four Najomtien residents, including a 4-year-old child, when a power outage caused the elevator they were riding in to stop working between the 4th and 5th floors of their condo building.
Ninrath Tithipathammanan, 29, told police he and three others were headed to the 5th floor of the 13-floor building around midnight May 28 when the elevator stopped. They waited, thinking it would start up again, but then the lights went out. They tried to call for help, but there was no cell phone signal, so they pushed the emergency button and waited.
Sawang Boriboon rescue workers managed to free them an hour later. They were exhausted due to the heat, but were otherwise unharmed. For safety reasons, they were taken to the hospital.
