Pattaya’s Nernplabwan 5 Community encouraged residents to embrace organic foods at a sunflower-sprouting workshop.
Nongprue Mayor Mai Chaiyanit opened the Feb. 10 event for 50 local residents.
Romlin Onsom demonstrated how to grow sunflower sprouts. The community also provided free blood-pressure checkups for attendees.
Karn Krudngern, chairman of Nernplabwan 5 Community, said the project was organized to support people in the neighborhood and surrounding areas so they could earn more money, and to campaign for people to take care of their health by consuming organic foods.

It also provided a learning resource on organic vegetables for the community.
Growing Sunflower sprouts is suitable for all health lovers as they is easy to grow, can be processed in many different ways, and growers gain good profits by selling them.
Sunflower sprouts are high in iron, vitamins B1, B6, and E; and Omega oils 3, 6, and 9, which provide health benefits for skin, eyesight, and brain cells. They also help reduce cholesterol and aid in bowel movement.
