A former Swedish newspaper owner died of an apparent suicide when he hung himself in his Jomtien Beach condominium.
Police found the body of Bengt Gunnar Johansson, 67, hanging from a 2-meter-long rope in his Soi Chaiyapruek residence Sept. 10. There were no signs of assault or that the condo had been broken into.
Bengt’s wife, 41-year-old Saichol Proikrathok, said the couple has been living together for many years and recently purchased the condominium. However, she said, she had been worried because Bengt had been tense and grumbling about wanting to die.
She said she didn’t know why and thought perhaps he was joking, until she returned home and discovered the body.
