Police are searching for a motorcycle-taxi driver who beat and robbed a Norwegian man after an all-night drinking session.
Tore Klungeruik, 50, lost about 12,000 baht and his smartphone in the attack near the intersection of Central and Third roads early Oct. 8.
Klungeruik told police through a translator that he was out drinking from early evening until dawn at bars around Pattaya and on Walking Street. When he finally decided he’d had enough around 5 a.m., he flagged down a man who may or may not have been a registered motorcycle-taxi driver.
Norwegian Tore Klungeruik reports to police how a motorcycle taxi allegedly beat and robbed him.
The Norwegian agreed to a fare of 200 baht to take him to his hotel, but the Thai man drove around Pattaya for nearly a half hour until he elbowed his passenger in the face, knocking him off the bike. Once on the ground, he was kicked repeatedly and robbed, Klungeruik said.
The victim was taken to Pattaya Memorial Hospital for treatment and police planned to review CCTV camera footage to try and identify his attacker.
