A South Pattaya taxi operator is offering a 50,000 baht reward for the arrest of burglars who stole more than a million baht in cash, jewelry and electronics from his Third Road garage.
Suwan Udomdet, 70, owner of Udomdet Service Co., called police April 25 after finding a second-floor door jimmied and their residence ransacked.
Missing was 300,000 baht cash, 12 amulets, an Apple iPad, Apple iPhone and various other pieces of gold jewelry.
CCTV cameras captured a clear picture of a burglar in his mid-30s who calmly strolled out of the garage and away with the loot.
Suwan said he was away at the time and his wife was tending the business downstairs. He said he normally wears his 10-baht-weight necklace, but left it at home since he was going out of town. Likewise, the burglar also knew where to find the cash, which had not yet been deposited in the bank.
The burglary is presumed to be an inside job or committed by people that know Suwan and his family’s schedule well. Police said two men were captured on video casing the building the morning before the burglary.
