Teens given coping lessons in Chonburi

More than 700 Chonburi high school students got tips on how to cope with problems and avoid drugs at a city-sponsored seminar.

Permanent Secretary Jutharat Prinwachirapjay opened the Feb. 4 “Immunity to Develop Youths Mind Health” at Chalerm Prakiat Pavilion, which was aimed at stimulating youths to take responsibility for themselves and society.

Attending were 755 Mattayom 1 and 3 students from Chonburi schools. They listened to a lecture from award winning public speaker Ornpim Raksapon, who mainly touches on subjects of inner strength, smartness, good deeds, love, loyalty, trust, and faith within family that inspire youth and bring them back to the brighter side of society. She usually speaks at schools and teenage children love her.

Students also participated in activities organized by teachers, Chonburi Health Insurance and volunteers from the Chonburi Public Health Department.

Mayor Decho Khongchayasukhwat said the seminar advised Chonburi youths on how to solve problems. He said teens naturally are curious and want to try new things. So the workshop hoped to advise them on how to avoid alcohol, smoking, drugs and unsafe sex.
