Thief in million-baht gold shop heist escapes towards Pattaya

An armed robber pulled a gun on a Laem Chabang jewelry shop clerk.

Sriracha police are hunting a thief who stole 36 thin gold necklaces worth nearly a million baht from a Laem Chabang jewelry shop.

The robbery took place around 6:30 p.m. at the Golden 99 gold shop inside a shopping mall in Tung Sukala.

A man in a white shirt, Nike jacket and jeans pulled a gun on three employees, jumped over the counter and snatched the chains weighing only a quarter-baht-weight each.

The total nine baht-weight haul was worth more than 967,000 baht.

He escaped the mall and headed down Sukhumvit Road toward Pattaya.

Police are investigating.

The assailant jumped over the counter and grabbed 36 gold necklaces worth nearly a million.
