Rainy season may be winding down, but isn’t out yet, as became obvious again Oct. 9 when parts of Pattaya and Nongprue flooded from a three-hour storm.
The night-time lashing drowned Soi Khao Talo and the railway-parallel road, where construction has hampered proper flood control. Houses in Nernplabwan Government Housing Village got hit with flash floods.
Flooding in Pattaya, however, didn’t exceed a meter deep, but with Third Road, Sukhumvit and Second roads, along with Soi Buakaow, seeing some of the worst effects.
Traffic police and volunteers provided assistance to drivers and the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department mobilized quickly with water pumps.
Water levels reached a meter high in some places along Soi Khao Talo and the railway-parallel road.
