Plutaluang’s Ban Klod neighborhood put a twist on the annual holiday by having former beauty queens older than 70 head up its annual Buddhist Lent candle parade. After riding on floats, the ladies did a short street-side dance before presenting lent candles to monks at Ban Klod Temple.

The quartet weren’t the only seniors celebrating, however. Members of the Plutaluang Elderly Club joined in the parade, although the procession had to pause occasionally to let them catch their breath.

All the oldsters enjoyed the parade, saying they felt it was important to participate so they can rise to heaven after passing away.
