A tour bus driver died after an automatic passenger door closed on his neck.
Police were called June 8 to the Mountain Beach Resort on Soi Kasetsin 4 on Pratamnak Hill where they discovered the lifeless body of Methi Kanthapayao. He’d been trapped in the automatic doors while trying to leave the bus, rather than use his unlocked driver’s-side door.
Pisal Boransee of First Transport Co., which operated the Hino bus for Lucky Guy Tour, said that Methi, in his late 20s, was finished working for the day and slept in the bus. He’d only been hired recently and, apparently, ignored company directives for drivers to only use the manual driver’s door and not try to rush through the automatic passenger’s door.
