A 37-year-old man was arrested for stealing a handbag left on the beach by a tourist swimming at 3 a.m.
Sakulrath Wiksantierya, 23, reported the theft Sept. 12, saying she went for a dip in the sea in the middle of the night on Pattaya Beach across from the Bay Walk. While in the water, she saw a man wandering around and came back to find her handbag gone.
Police tracked down the suspect to near Tukcom in South Pattaya. Tana Kerdmongkol, 37, was captured with 11,000 baht, but told police he tossed the bag under the Bali Hai flyover.
Police recovered the bag and booked Tana for theft.
