The 10-million-baht donation comes after Pattaya City Hall gave away its own patrol boat to the navy in February.

The new vessels will be operated by the Tourist Police under orders from Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwon to improve marine safety for tourists across the country.

Orders were given for the Tourism and Sports Ministry, Marine Police and Marine Department to draft safety plans, including zoning, volunteer training and the launch of marine patrols by the Tourist Police to boost the trust and confidence of tourists.
