Pattaya residents continue to complain about people parking in restricted zones and authorities continuing to ignore it, despite repeated pledges of better enforcement.
A tour around downtown March 10 found a freight truck double-parked at the northern end of Beach Road, blocking traffic and a whole raft of parking issues on Soi 13/2.

“Soi Post Office,” as its known is only eight meters wide, but is narrowed substantially by business owners parking their cars or blocking off public roadway in front of their shops.
Motorcycle parking on the street was worse, jutting out into the middle of the road.
Underneath the flyover near Bali Hai Pier, passenger vans park without fear of being ticketed in restricted zones clearly marked with the red-and-white “no parking” colors. Some drivers napped there for hours without a traffic cop disturbing their sleep.
Pattaya municipal and Chonburi provincial officials, as well as police, continually promise to crack down on parking scofflaws, but the promises generally have been empty talk.
