Seemingly abandoned roadwork is generating accidents and anger in Samae San.

Residents of the Ban Nong Grajong community complained that an under-construction four-lane road has become a hazard due to dust, missing warning signs, protruding steel bars, and a lack of covers for drainage holes.

The obstacle course has caused a string of accidents, most recently by Teeranan Opas, 27, who drove his Honda Civic into an unmarked hole, causing damage to the undercarriage.

No government agency has stepped up to take responsibility for the work or address residents concern.

The street has many huge, uncovered drainage holes of size 1.2 x 1.2 by 2 meters. Steel bars are sticking up above the road surface, making traveling dangerous. To make the matter worse, there are no warning signs and some part of the road has no lighting.

Residents have taken to placing plastic water bottles on top of bars to mark them or cover the holes with various materials to prevent kids from falling in.
