An unseasonal winter storm thrashed Pattaya, flooding major roads and carving out huge swaths of beachfront sand.

The Feb. 17 storm dumped heavy rain amid high winds across Chonburi, Rayong, Chanthaburi and Trat, with temperatures dropping up to three degrees Celsius.

The hour-long Feb. 17 storm dumped heavy rain and caused major tailbacks on Sukhumvit Road.

All the usual places in Pattaya suffered dramatic flooding, from Sukhumvit Road to Beach Road and across East Pattaya. Vehicles got stuck on Third Road and police set up detours.

The Nong Yai Community was hit particularly hard, with storm runoff reaching 80 centimeters deep, snarling the after-school commute.

Pattaya Beach again sustained heavy damage as all the runoff ran downhill from the east, gouging out tracts of sand that will take days to repair.

Students and guardians grin and bear it on their walk through floodwaters to go home after class.

Student uniforms and shoes were soaked.

Once again, the same place floods on Sukhumvit Road in front of the Highway Office in South Pattaya.
