The road leading to the viewpoint atop Pratamnak Hill is narrow and twisty and street vendors are making it even more hazardous.
Without permits, vendors have parked their vehicles along the side of the four-meter-wide roads leading to the Naval Radio Station and Prince Chumphon monument. Making matters worse, they have set up tables on the sidewalk, leaving little room for either cars or pedestrians.
Reporters questioned the vendors, who acted entitled and fearless of prosecution. They said they’ve sold food and trinkets to tourists for years and police have either turned a blind eye or “arrangements” have been made allowing the legal activity.
Three vehicles illegally parked along the small road on Pratamnak Hill, near the view point and radio station, make it difficult for tourist traffic to pass through.
The military has showed recently in Naklua that it won’t stand for private businesses to profit from using public streets and land. Reporters notified the Pattaya Complaint Centre and are waiting to see if authorities will make the trek up the hill to resolve the problem.
