Vietnamese woman arrested for big-money jeans heist

Pattaya Police arrested a Vietnamese woman allegedly trying to steal 50,000 baht worth of jeans from a Central Festival Pattaya Beach boutique.

Nguyen Thi Hien, 23, was nabbed by a security guard at the True Religion clothing store with four pairs of blue jeans valued at 12,000 baht to 14,300 baht each. They were found inside a paper bag with foil in the inside to deflect signals from security tags on the pants.

Following Nguyen’s arrest, Wanlapa Yaowalert, a manager with the nearby Ed Hardy shop, accused the Vietnamese woman of being one of four people who’d stolen more than 250,000 baht in clothing from her shop. Police went to the Ed Hardy store to review its security footage.

Nguyen was charged with theft and police are searching for her alleged accomplices.
