PATTAYA, Thailand – Pattaya police received a report about a man threatening a woman with a firearm at a condominium on December 8. Police quickly responded, surrounding the area. The suspect, identified as 35-year-old Mr. Thep, was waving an unknown-sized gun while holding his ex-girlfriend, 43-year-old Ms. Su, captive in a room.
Officers attempted to negotiate, and Mr. Thep eventually surrendered as more police units arrived. Upon inspection, it was revealed that the firearm was a fake plastic gun, which was seized as evidence.
Ms. Su explained to police that she and her ex-partner frequently had arguments, but she never expected the situation to escalate to this extent. The suspect had a history of using violence, with this incident being the most severe, including him stabbing her leg with scissors. Luckily, she only sustained minor injuries and was rescued by the police in time.
A friend of the victim revealed that the suspect appeared to be intoxicated and had threatened them with the fake gun, warning that anyone who intervened would be shot. The friend immediately contacted the police.
Mr. Thep was arrested and taken into custody, facing charges for his actions. It was also disclosed that Mr. Thep often impersonated a police officer, claiming to be affiliated with the local police station. He even told the arresting officers that he worked as a volunteer at Bang Lamung Police Station.
