A Russian tourist plied with vodka died after drowning near Sattahip.
Dmitry Klimchenko, 41, was pronounced dead April 10 at Ocean Marina where authorities met his Russian-operated tour boat.
Klimchenko’s wife, Svetlana, said the couple and 10 other friends had hired a boat to take them for a day of diving and swimming near Koh Khram. She admitted her husband had been drinking vodka before deciding to go swimming off Koh Rin. About 500 meters from their boat, he began having troubles and drowned before he could be rescued.
Police suspect Klimchenko died from a combination of drinking, exertion and possibly a heart condition.
