Banglamung District officials and soldiers raided five Walking Street go-go bars but found nothing out of line.
District Chief Chakorn Kanjawattana, Pattaya police and soldiers from the 14th Military Circle hit the Happy, Alcatraz, Beach Club, Skyfall and one other bar June 16, shutting down the party and checking identification cards, licenses and liquor stocks.
Authorities were ordered to raid the five specific clubs by Chonburi Gov. Khomsan Ekachai and specifically look for underage or foreign workers, improper licenses, and booze and cigarettes without Excise Department tax stamps.
All the clubs passed their inspections with no issues, prompting bar owners to complain the raid was a result of fraudulent complaints from jealous competing bar owners.
Banglamung officials said the raids are a routine measure to ensure Pattaya entertainment venues stay in compliance with all laws and more will follow in the future.
