A storm that took down a huge tree and power poles in Naklua Monday was also blamed for knocking down a wall and crushing two cars.

A Chevrolet Captiva owned by Prapot Mayom, 40, and a Honda Civic owned by Kittidet Punya, 34, both suffered catastrophic damage when the 10-meter-tall stone wall collapsed Sept. 15 at Pornthep Village. No one was injured.

Kittidet said rain that fell all night weakened the soil under the 30-meter-long wall that had been erected to prevent landslide damage.

Kittidet said he had actually gone out in the morning to take photos of the storm and was inside the car when the wall collapsed. He was able to reverse fast enough to avoid injury, although his car was not so lucky.
