A Russian man wanted for drug dealing back home was captured hiding out in the Pattaya area for the past three years.
Chonburi Immigration Police arrested Dmitry Filpsin, 27, at the Dusit View Village in Huay Yai Nov. 19.
The suspect initially refused to meet with police, sending his Russian wife out to talk with officers for about an hour. Finally he appeared, presenting a Ukrainian passport under the name of Dmytro Bondarchuio.
Police checked with the Ukrainian embassy and determined the passport was fake.
Police said Filpsin tried to assert he held dual nationalities and was not the man they wanted. But he was booked and charged with counterfeiting a passport before being processed for deportation back to Russia to face narcotics-trafficking charges.
