Chonburi Immigration officers arrested a yakuza gangster wanted in Japan for running a call-center fraud scheme.
Tatsuru Tanaka, an alleged leader of the Yamakuji gang, was arrested June 26 at Suvarnabhumi International Airport upon request of Japanese law enforcement, who posted a global Interpol wanted notice.
Tanaka faces charges of running a call-center that defrauded investors of a total 80 million yen (23.6 million baht). Police said he regularly visited Pattaya.
Immigration officials also announced the June 15 arrest of four Chinese nationals running an online football-betting operation in Bangkok.
