The giant water fight commonly known as Songkran has entered its final hours, with Pattaya thoroughly waterlogged and residents either thoroughly annoyed or gearing up for tonight’s April 19 finale. The annual rice festivals close out Songkran week starting at noon April 20 in Naklua and at Nong Yai Temple beginning at 6:30 p.m.
Rice festival this weekend
The annual rice festival closes out Songkran week on April 20 in Naklua. The day begins at noon with sports contests, including Muay Thai boxing, slingshots and oily-post climbing.
The rice ceremony begins at 6 p.m. with a “ghost parade” and country music concert by Blueberry and Kung Suthirat following.
Another rice festival also will be held at Nong Yai Temple at 6:30 p.m.
