Police say a Banglamung woman hired a tow truck to help her steal a pharmacist’s car from a North Pattaya shopping mall.
Kanokwan Yongphan, 33, was captured in her Boom House apartment March 6 about an hour after Thittima Phromphao, 26, reported her white Mazda missing from Central Center, where she owns a drug store.
Witnesses told the pharmacist that a tow truck had taken her car away. She contacted police, who tracked the tow job back to driver Anurak Hinthoom, 30, who said a woman hired him for 1,000 baht to tow the car to her apartment, claiming it had broken down.
Thittima Phromphao (right) now has her car back, whilst alleged thief Kanokwan Yongphan (left) will most likely be going to jail.
When police knocked on Kanokwan’s door, she refused to answer and only chanted prayers loudly. After kicking in the door, officers said Kanokwan scolded them for taking the vehicle, which she claimed was hers.
Apartment manager Phardee Siriwattanakul said Kanokwan has been undergoing treatment from a doctor for mental issues. Police are investigating.
