A British man possibly driving drunk injured a Thai woman in a crash in Pattaya.

Martin Leonard, 67, was detained pending a blood-alcohol test after the two-car collision on Sukhumvit Road at Soi 6/1 near Djittabhawan Temple.

Leonard had just left a police encounter where officers found him sleeping in his red MG on Soi Khao Talo in east Pattaya. Police said that as they and the rescue team awakened him from his slumber, the startled Brit sped off in an erratic manner swaying to and fro on the road.

He drove just a few kilometers towards the Jitdtabhawan temple on Sukhumvit Road before he rear-ended a Nissan Almera parked by the side of the road. The MG careened onto the sidewalk and came to a crashing halt.

Sawitree Seesun, 25, the driver of the Nissan Almera said that she was about to drive home after giving alms to Buddhist monks by the roadside when the MG crashed into the rear of her car.

Sawitree suffered bruises to her face and was left dizzy from the impact. She was sent to Banglamung Hospital for treatment.
