A 15-year-old mixed-race boy was killed when a carpark gate he was helping to repair broke loose and fell on him.
Hi mother, 41-year-old Pairin Wannakot, had sent the boy to his 61-year-old step-father Eric Baerts’ house to help repair the electronic gate.
Baerts suffered an injured leg when the gate fell. He attempted to lift the heavy gate off the boy, but was unable. The boy didn’t survive the impact.
