Khet Udomsak Sub-district taught 150 youths driving techniques and traffic rules to prevent accidents on area roads.
Mayor Pairoj Malakul Na Ayutthaya chaired the May 27 session at Singsamuth School.
Municipal Clerk Somboon Chumpali said accidents in the sub-district have continued to increase every year. Many drive with no awareness of the dangers, he said, resulting in death, injuries and property damage. Also, he added, there are not enough traffic officers to handle the number of drivers.
Sattahip traffic police sub-inspector, Pol. Capt. Wiroj Charitrum (left) and officers from the Sattahip traffic police, teach students about traffic law.
Young drivers, thus, have been targeted, giving them both practical and theoretical education on traffic laws and good-driving techniques. The courses were taught by officers from the Sattahip Police Station.
Pairoj called the training a success and hopes that the young drivers will pass on their knowledge as they get older.
Future drivers listen to the lectures, imagining the day when they finally get the chance to drive a car.
