Two migrant children under care of Pattaya’s ASEAN Education Center placed in the top four in the Sudoku competition at the Maxploys Central and Eastern Championships.

Jariya (age and surname unknown) took second while Mab (age and surname unknown) placed fourth in the June 17 contest participated in by 2,000 youths. The two received trophies and a small amount of cash.

Staffers at the Human Help Network Thailand facility for children of migrant workers from Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar said that both of the students previously had posted excellent math grades, which helped them with the Sudoku puzzles.

Sudoku is a logic-based, number-placement puzzle. The objective is to fill a 9×9 grid with digits in such a way that each column, each row, and each of the nine 3×3 grids that make up the larger 9×9 grid contains all of the digits from 1 to 9. Each puzzle begins partially filled in.
