Aiming to ease the financial burden on royal mourners who cannot afford new black clothing, Banglamung’s Non-Formal Education Center offered free clothes-dyeing lessons.
The classes in front of Jittapawan College’s main sermon hall began Oct. 18 after the Education Ministry told the district to provide free services for those grieving the death of HM the King.
Center Director Pungsuwan Phanmamuang said 900 centers nationwide were offering similar services to help poor people who cannot afford to buy black shirts and clothing for all their family members during the coming year of mourning.
The class was organized with stations for segregation, water boiling for dying, rinsing and sun drying.
Many people brought their clothes to the college the first day it opened.
