Najomtien residents came to the aid of a blind teenager struggling to survive on his own.
Moo 1 village chief Supoj Imyaem and representatives from the sub-district’s Health Department and police met July 19 with Chaiyakorn Wongko, 18, whose plan to make his it on his own so as not to burden his family has gone horribly awry.
Chaiyakorn was first spotted by a local resident named Danai, who saw him looking rough at a local restaurant where kind owners had given him food.
The teen said he was from Amnat Charoen and had lost virtually all his vision three years ago after he suffered injuries to his eyes, which later became infected.
He had lived with his parents, but left to stay with relatives after many quarrels. Finally, on July 17, he left the relatives’ house as he felt he was burdening them.
He ended up in the Pattaya-Sattahip area, hoping someone would hire him, to no avail. The small amount of money Chaiyakorn had brought with him evaporated quickly, leaving him homeless.
Najomtien officials planned to try to contact Chaiyakorn’s parents and find a place where he can rebound.
