Chonburi officials brought together social-service organizations to help build a children and youth’s network in the province.
Provincial cultural official Samart Tiewpoonwong chaired the Aug. 6 workshop on youth empowerment. The purpose of the seminar was to exchange knowledge and learning about children and youth development. Moreover, it included brainstorming to analyze problems and requirements related to youth development. It featured lectures on rules and duties outlined in the National Child and Youth Development Promotion Act of 2007.
Samart said promoting development of children and youth networks a the district level was called for in the 2007 law, but there was never any move to implement it in Chonburi.

This workshop was a good start for such networks, giving groups a good opportunity to understand roles and duties outlined in the act.
Additionally, a memorandum of understanding was signed during the meeting to announce the intention of groups to cooperate with the government, private organizations, and related district-level groups. (CPRD)
