Star students from Garden International School (GIS) are celebrating some superb IGCSE results.

The IGCSEs are the world’s leading qualification for 16-year-olds. GIS students took these examinations in May and the results have just been announced.

This year’s star student is Arjit Verma, who scored a perfect 8 passes, all with A* grades. Arjit took one examination a year early, so he now has 9 A* passes in total, all with scores of more than 90 percent.

Another outstanding result came from Abhigyan Khullar, who has a total of 8 A* passes and one A grade. Other top results include Jun Beom Chi, who was given 6 A* passes and 2 A grades, Reha Bhombal, who gained 7 A* grades and one C grade, and Yukta Shahi and Yash Shah, who both obtained 5 A* grades and 3As.

GIS students celebrate another year of fantastic IGCSE results!

Jun Beom’s achievement is even more amazing as he came to GIS from Korea in Year 6 with almost no English, but through his hard work and the efforts of teachers, he soon dramatically improved.

GIS had 100 percent pass rates for English World Literature, First Language English, Music, Spanish, Thai and French. A pass is considered to be a C grade or higher.

In total 80 percent of all entries gained an A*-C grade, well above the global average.

The International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) is run by Cambridge University and is the world’s leading examination for 16-year-olds. GIS is the most established IGCSE centre in the region. The school’s results are regularly far above the global average.

In addition, several Year 10 students took IGCSE Mathematics a year early, and all passed. This included Shomit Ghosh who gained an A* in Mathematics.

In Year 9, a total of 19 students took IGCSE English as a Second Language two years earlier than normal – and again there was a 100 per cent pass rate. Year 9’s Jezabel Razon also managed an A* for IGCSE French.

Chris Stokes, IGCSE Coordinator, said: “These impressive results show the dedication of both our talented students and our teachers. The IGCSE is a major examination and we are very proud that GIS has again shown its results are well above average. To have so many subjects achieve 100 percent pass rates is remarkable.”

Most students will now remain at GIS to study for the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme, the world’s leading pre-university course.

Abhigyan did brilliantly, with 8 A* grades and 1 A grade.

Star student was Arjit, who has 9 A* passes at IGCSE.

Jun Beom, from Korea, came to GIS with little English but passed his IGCSEs with 6 A*s and two As!
