Garden International School (GIS) recently held a spectacular Secondary Swimming Gala.
House meetings were held beforehand to finalise the event and then on the day the first swimmers took to the pool at 8.30 a.m. Once all lined up in their houses, students all helped their houses by taking part in the races. Teachers Ms Morris and Mr Elderkamp also joined in the fun by taking to the water.
There was a buzz of excitement as the whistle blew to signal the start of each race. The Gala ended with a breathtaking Biathlon, where students (and Mr Elderkamp) had to do ten laps of swimming (250m) and 800m running. All the houses did well but there could only be one winner. The results were: Cobra finished in 4th place, Gecko was in 3rd, Tiger managed a 2nd, and Eagle were the overall winners.
And they’re off! Another race begins.
