Four Prefects from Garden International School have attended a special student leaders’ conference in Vietnam.
The Prefects – Aakshi, Yukta, Berenice and Praw – went to the 2015 FOBISIA Student Leaders’ conference hosted by the British International School of Ho Chi Minh City (BIS), Ho Chi Minh City. FOBISIA is the Federation of British International Schools in Asia.
It proved to be an awesome experience for the girls, with inspiring guest speakers, participation in collaborative activities – and great food. And yes, they were tired at the end of it all, but they were also full of great leadership initiatives ready to be shared with GIS students.
Students from GIS joined dozens of others from around Asia for a conference in Vietnam.
On September 17, the GIS group travelled to Ho Chi Minh City and stayed at the 4-star Hotel Equatorial. More than 10 international schools around Asia came to the conference. The two-day conference allowed everyone to explore the role of ethical leadership and it was a good opportunity for the students to share information about their schools’ leadership systems and discuss the challenges and opportunities as student leaders.
GIS Prefects Berenice, Yukta, Aakshi and Praw all went to Vietnam for a special student leaders’ conference.
Students also had the chance to gain a taste of Ho Chi Minh City on the Friday evening when they visited the AO show at the Saigon Opera House; the show is based on the traditional lives of the Vietnamese people. After the show, we had dinner at Nha Hang Ngon. We were very sad to be leaving Vietnam the next day but we were excited to be coming back with lots of ideas to improve our school.
GIS Prefects met with Gabby (a BIS Prefect) and Mr Carl Mincher (BIS Head Teacher).
