Students celebrated the end of their IB Diploma studies with a formal evening at the 5-star Mövenpick resort near Pattaya.

The evening included an international/Thai buffet and performances from Garden International School students. There was a flute duet, singers and a group song from everyone at the end.

IB Diploma Coordinator Mr Beales handed out IB teddy bears to each student and wished them well as they prepare to head off to leading universities around the world. IB is the world’s leading course for 16-18 year olds and GIS is the most-experienced IB school in the region.

A few weeks earlier, just before the IB exams began, there was a whole-school leavers’ assembly to say goodbye to the IB2 students. After a welcome by Principal Mrs Hawtree, the IB2s were given a guard of honour from the IB1s and party poppers were let off.

There were then various tributes from the students’ brothers and sisters (many of whom also gained the IB Diploma at GIS), as well as some teachers and friends. Some IB students have spent their entire education at GIS so it was a big moment as they marked their last official day of school.

GIS is based in Ban Chang, near Pattaya.
