Muslim youths spend holiday studying Koran

About 150 area Muslim youths used their school holiday to learn how to recite the Koran in the rhythm of the prose.

Nongprue Mayor Mai Chaiyanit presided over the April 20 closing ceremony for the 15-day Gori and Ethics Summer Camp in Baan Nernplabwan, joined by sub-district council members, imams Garsem Jordaman and Samai Sockheng of Nu Run Yakin Mosque, community leaders and teachers.

The camp helped youths to understand the Koran and taught ethics for living, asking for blessings from Allah, and how to use Islamic teaching in daily life as a guideline. Moreover, the training emphasized unity and living in harmony.

Mai said he was delighted to be a part of cultivation of the youths and believes it’s important for society to support all religions.

150 youths took part in the summer camp.
