Nearly 400 navy cadets temporarily became monks to pay tribute to HM the late King.

Phra Phutthachinnawong, abbot of Phitchayatikaram Temple and the central region’s chief monk, led the ceremony to ordain 375 Naval Rating School cadets at the Chumphon Royal Naval Academy March 28. They had their heads shaved at a navy ceremony the day prior.

Their monkhood lasted through April 5. During that time, they resided at the dharma practice center in Nakhon Ratchasima.

Navy officials said the young novices made the navy proud with their dedication to learn dharma to honor the memory of the HM King Bhumibol.
