Nongprue opened a new center offering lessons on making traditional sweets and crafts to everyone from students to the elderly.

Mayor Mai Chaiyanit cut the ribbon on the “school-based management for local development center” at Nongprue Kindergarten Dec. 25.

The facility offers classes to students, parents and senior citizens on creating fancy masks, buttered corn sweets, coins for funerals and monk ordinations, bookshelves, crafts made of banana leaves, salty eggs, “bualoy” traditional sweets, fried taro and traditional arts.

The project aims to hand down traditional culture to younger generations and well as offer people a chance to make unique goods to sell for extra income.
