Year 5 students from Garden International School (GIS) had an amazing barge trip and learned all about the famous Chao Phraya River and its uses.
Before we got on the boat in Bangkok we met the barge crew – Mr Craig, Ms Erica and Mr Tee, who told us the safety rules. The next day, we woke up at 6.30 a.m. and were treated to some hot chocolate. The boat was not moving yet, but I saw a wonderful temple with a big golden Buddha.
We went swimming and canoeing; it was the best day of the trip. When we got in the water it was freezing! On our final day, we went shopping for breakfast at the market and it was fabulous. At 9 a.m. we bought souvenirs and I got a badge and a key chain to remember the trip.
Over the three days, we learned lots about the river and how it is used, we even got to study the plants and animals that live on the river. We had a great time!
Hot chocolate helps us prepare for our river trip!
Jump! Year 5 students take the plunge.
Canoeing on the river was one of the highlights.
GIS students also did research to discover more about the river.
