School instructors across the Pattaya area were honored for their hard work and commitment on Thailand’s annual Teacher’s Day.

Mayor Anan Charoenchasri and Education Department Director Nopprasit Na Nakhon hosted the Jan. 16 event at the Eastern National Indoor Sports Stadium on Soi Chaiyapruek.

The day began with a merit-making ceremony with monks for area temples participating.

Teachers from all of Pattaya’s schools were present to award certificates to outstanding students. Teachers also received commendations, with students getting a chance to nominate their favorite instructors.

At Nongprue Kindergarten, Mayor Mai Chaiyanit oversaw the sub-district’s commemoration with teachers from schools and child-development centers.

Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha’s motto for this year’s Teacher’s Day was “good students are successful because teachers have faith”.
