The Red Cross Society last week provided blankets to victims of the cold weather crisis in Pua sub-district, Nan province.
Dr. Amnat Balee, director of the Relief and Community Health Bureau, Red Cross Society, together with the Royal Thai Air Force, the TV Cameramen and Reporters Association of Thailand under Royal Patronage, and artists and celebrities have cooperated with Nan province to hold the event “Do Good Things for the King 2018” at Pua District Office, Nan province.
More than 6,000 items of cold weather equipment were given to the victims. Sports equipment, medicine and medical supplies were also given to rural schools, and a medical unit was dispatched to undertake physical checkups and provide general and dental disease treatment.
Pua district is an area of high mountains. Cold weather occurs there every year. Sometimes the weather is cold all day, which tends to make the local people feel sick. From the survey, however, most victims were the elderly, the handicapped and the underprivileged, numbering more than 5,000.
