Recently the Kindergarten at Rayong English Programme School (REPS) held their annual Sport Day. Under partly sunny skies almost 300 Kindergarten students participated in more than 10 different sporting events such as sprint run, long jump, relay races, chair basketball, long toss, sticky ball throw, bowling and bean bag bulls-eye.
The students were divided into 4 colored teams and each team wore either a red, yellow, green or purple sport shirt. Parents were also invited to don shirts of their child’s team color, come to cheer for their children and to enjoy the day.
Opening ceremony … Let the games begin.
The students rotated between the games so all students could play all the games and team scores were kept as the emphasis this year was on creating team spirit rather than individual competition. Enthusiastically the students encouraged each other to do their best for the team, knowing the goal was to have a winning team. Between games and races the students had snacks, juice and ice cream to help keep up their energy.
Always keep your eye on the chair ball.
The first place team members received gold medals. Followed by silver for the second place and there was a tie for the third place bronze medals. The sparkling medals that hung on red, white and blue ribbons were placed around the necks of all the competitors. Then they excitedly posed for team photos.
The amazing day ended with very tired and happy students each taking home their own winning medal!
Relay races are fun and test out coordination skills.
