Members of the Rotary E-Club Dolphin Pattaya International toured the new organic garden at the Child Protection Development Center with an eye toward helping grow the self-sufficiency project.

Club President Margret Deter and Charter President Dr Otmar Deter together with a group of German expats were welcomed by Human Help Network Thailand Director Ratchada Chomjinda Feb. 3.

The children at the CPDC took the visitors on a tour around their new garden and demonstrated how they plant vegetables including chili peppers, lettuce, basil, lime and more.

The center also has a mushroom farm to reduce its daily expenses for food.

Apart from growing vegetables for daily meals, the center’s objective is to possibly generate some income by selling organic veggies to people who prefer the healthier option.

Furthermore, the garden gives the kids more activities to do and teaches them about crops, plants and HM the late King’s “sufficiency economy” philosophy.

After touring the garden, the visitors made lunch for the kids and discussed how the Rotarians could help the CPDC in its agricultural pursuits.
