Hosted by the Ministry of Science and Technology, “National Science and Technology Fair 2017” is Asia’s largest science and technology fair and is expected to attract more than a million visitors. The objectives are to inspire young Thais to understand the importance of science and technology as well as encourage them to think scientifically and to learn how to manage technology wisely.
Science and Technology Minister Atchaka Sibunruang said that the event is meant to honor King Rama IV, aka the “Father of Thai Science,” and King Rama IX, aka the “Father of Thai Invention,” of the House of Chakri.
The event showcases several scientific ideas from governmental agencies and the private sector, highlighting the late monarch’s sufficiency economy principles and the government’s “Thailand 4.0” approach which seeks to turn the country into a digital society and attain the sustainable development goals set by the United Nations.
